File 1161 begins as the investigation into the incident at the mystery-solving venue starts moving in earnest.
The detectives who arrive at the scene are Sato and Takagi. The victim is Yuito Tarusawa, a pastry chef working at the restaurant.
The three people named as suspects all work at the same restaurant.

When we put the flow leading up to the grape juice in order, it looks like this.

On top of that, Detective Sato and Yumi begin talking about a traffic accident that happened near Beika 3-chome around 8 p.m. the previous week.
The story is that a father and mother riding in a taxi were arguing inside the car. During that argument, their daughter stepped out toward the roadway and was hit by a car coming from behind.

Impressions and Theories for Conan File 1161, “Don’t Give Up”
From here, I will go through some quick impressions and theories about this chapter.
File 1161 Theory 1: The Keys Are Still the Rubber Hammer and the Glare Phenomenon
The two details that stand out most in this case are still the rubber hammer and the glare phenomenon.
The rubber hammer found in the restroom equipment storage area, and the glare phenomenon that Sato and Yumi pointedly bring up, both seem likely to be deeply tied to the truth next time.
First, the rubber hammer feels meaningful. It is not a normal metal hammer, and its soft rubber head suggests a use closer to pushing or striking something without leaving damage, rather than smashing something outright.
Because of that, it seems quite possible that the hammer was used to tamper with the wine bottle or the cork area in this case.
For example, someone may have treated the cork in some way, planted poison there, and then returned it to something close to its original state. If the rubber hammer was used at the end of that work to keep the appearance from looking unnatural, the idea fits surprisingly well.
The glare phenomenon also does not feel like casual chatter. If the case uses the way reflected or refracted light can make something that should be visible harder to see, then something that appeared to vanish at the scene, or something someone failed to notice, should become important.
What is missing from the scene is the container that held the cyanide-type poison.

File 1161 Theory 2: The Traffic Accident from One Week Earlier Seems Connected to the Motive
File 1160 mentioned that Tarusawa had been isolated because of a certain incident, and File 1161 finally explains the contents of that traffic accident.
At this point, it feels almost certain that the accident is connected to the motive behind the current case.
Based on what we hear about the accident, Yuito Tarusawa may have been deeply involved in that matter in some form. And if he is still living normally now, there is also the possibility that he avoided any major punishment.
That naturally points toward a structure where someone close to the accident victim or the victim’s family held a strong grudge against Tarusawa.
The person who seems as if he could fit into that position is Terui. Of course, nothing can be stated as certain yet.
Still, as a motive, the past traffic accident feels much heavier than the wine-related trouble alone escalating into such a strong intent to kill.
If Terui was connected to the accident victim’s side, then a line like “he could not forgive Tarusawa for showing no remorse” would feel very plausible.
This case may turn out to be less about the wine trouble in front of everyone and more about a past event catching up with Tarusawa in the form of revenge.
File 1161 Theory 3: Shinichi and Masumi Sera’s “Cold” Still Feels Suspicious
Another thing that still bothers me is the line at the start of File 1160 saying that Shinichi and Masumi Sera sounded nasal.
Casual remarks like this are sometimes just casual, but sometimes they come back later. Since both names were deliberately brought up, I doubt it will end as a simple update on how they are doing.
The first possibility is that it foreshadows a temporary return from Conan to Shinichi. Even if the story does not move that dramatically, it could still lead to Ran noticing something new, such as Shinichi often seeming unwell when he is with her, or to movement on Masumi Sera’s side.
Masumi Sera is an important character tied into larger developments, so even mentioning her name here feels like it may have a purpose.
Apart from the solution to the case itself, the question of what that “cold” was setting up may gradually start to matter from File 1162 onward.
The visible axis of this case is the wine and the trick, but it also feels as if another piece of foreshadowing is quietly moving in the background. That is why, in File 1162, I want to pay attention not only to the truth of the case but also to which details are meant to connect to the next development.
