Detective Conan 1128 “The Trigger for a Counterattack” – Spoilers

The chapter opens with Conan, Azusa, and one of the kidnappers in a windowless room.

Conan has been faking unconsciousness; while the crooks weren’t looking, he slipped wireless earbuds into the cuffs of both kidnappers’ trousers.

Moments later one abductor leaves the room.

File 1128 Spoiler ① – Using the Earbuds’ “Find Device” Ping

Once a paired earbud drifts roughly 400 meters from its host phone, a notification pops up.

Seeing the alert on the kidnapper’s handset, Conan confirms the second culprit has gone far enough away.

He then tranquils the remaining guard with his wrist-watch dart.

File 1128 Spoiler ② – Popping the Padlock

Conan scrapes the match-head coating into the padlock’s keyhole.

When he strikes a match and touches it to the packed striker dust, the mini-blast blows the shackle open.

He grabs the sleeping kidnapper’s phone to recon the situation.

File 1128 Spoiler ③ – The “Horror Room” Gag

Removing the guard’s hood, mask, and shades reveals the exact face that had appeared as a “severed head” in the fridge.

The gruesome props were fakes: a photo-wrap mannequin head and a sliced sausage posed as a finger.

Realizing the windowless space is a video studio for horror pranks, Conan lures the other kidnapper back via text.

File 1128 Spoiler ④ – Why They Were Abducted

Meanwhile, Amuro drives toward the culprit’s base.

From Ran’s smartphone photo he spotted unreleased “Splatterter 3” gameplay on laptop.

Amuro concludes the crooks feared Azusa would leak pre-launch footage and planned to detain her until midnight.

Arriving at the game-guide publisher’s studio, Amuro and Sera find the three men prostrating themselves before Conan and Azusa.

Conan brands their stunt kidnapping and unlawful confinement, but lets them off if they hand over six advance copies of “Splatterter 3” plus matching strategy guides.

File 1128 Spoiler ⑤ – Unmasking the Café Visitors

Later, everyone gathers at Café Poirot again.

The man who had asked for Azusa’s recipe turns out to be the manager of a coffee shop near the station.

Just then another masked customer walks in, and Azusa greets him brightly:

Azusa「Why, Mr. Kanamaru—you’re back again today!」

It turns out that Kanamaru once filled in as Poirot’s temporary manager while the real Master was hospitalized with an injury.

Apparently he’d heard rumors that Azusa and Amuro were dating and dropped by simply because he was curious—nothing more.

File 1129 will pick up from here…

Detective Conan 1128 “The Trigger for a Counterattack” – Review & Theories

The chapter many thought would push Amuro closer to Conan turned out to be a surprisingly lighthearted rescue.

What looked like a grim abduction morphed into a tech-savvy prank—and even revealed a “temporary” Café Poirot manager.

Here are the key take-aways.

File 1128 Review & Theories ① – The Wireless-Earbud Trick Was Genius

Few readers guessed Conan would slip Azusa’s Bluetooth earbuds into the kidnappers’ cuffs, then use the “Find Device” ping to confirm one culprit had stepped 400 m away.

Add a sleeping-dart watch and a match-head padlock hack, and the “counter-attack” wrapped up fast.

The ringleaders weren’t hardened criminals after all, which explains the lighter tone.

File 1128 Review & Theories ② – So the “Master” Was Only a Stand-In

Our theory pegged Kanamaru as the long-missing master of Café Poirot, but this chapter confirms he was merely a substitute manager who filled in while the real owner was hospitalized.

The true Poirot master still hasn’t appeared in the manga, which only deepens the mystery surrounding that character.

One amusing detail: Toru Amuro didn’t recognize Kanamaru because they’ve never actually met—proof he’s not the genuine master, just the temporary one.

After years of waiting, fans briefly thought the real boss had finally stepped onto the stage, so the reveal was a bit of a letdown.

File 1128 Review & Theories ③ – Amuro Still Didn’t Probe Conan’s Secret

Given Amuro’s ongoing surveillance, we expected him to leverage the crisis to corner Conan.

Instead, Masumi Sera’s watchful eye served as a deterrent.

She even noted that Amuro “keeps poking around” Conan, hinting she’ll shield him if necessary.

The identity chess match is far from over.

File 1128 Review & Theories ④ – The Return of the “Black Baby”

Remember the elderly woman with a stroller from File 1126?

She—and the mysterious dark-cloaked “baby”—re-appeared in a casual background panel.

The scene drops no new clues about her cat allergy or the stroller’s contents, so either:

Gosho is seeding a future case, or

It’s a cheeky callback reminding us not every ominous prop is a clue.

Either way, keep an eye on that stroller in upcoming files.
