Major spoilers for Files 1119–1120, including the Shinichi disguise reveal. File 1119 introduces a murder on the Bell Tree Tower Sky Deck and brings Saguru Hakuba back to the main manga. He faces Kaito Kid (Kaitou Kid), who poses as Shinichi Kudo with Conan’s cooperation.
The case begins with Kaito Kid’s attempted theft of the Azure Throne, but the discovery of a dead man turns the heist into a locked-room murder investigation.
This article covers the confirmed setup and labels forward-looking predictions as theories. The chapter is titled “The Sky.”
Detective Conan 1119 “The Sky” – Spoiler
The chapter opens on the Bell Tree Tower Sky Deck, where an announcer introduces a new 5-billion-yen extension projecting from the observatory.
Funded by the Suzuki Financial Group, the extension houses its main attraction—and Kaito Kid’s next target—the “Azure Throne,” a chair inlaid with one of the world’s largest tanzanites.
File 1119 Spoiler ① – After Dark on the Sky Deck
When public hours end, Ran and Sonoko linger. Sonoko teases Ran about Shinichi:
Sonoko tells Ran that, since she and Shinichi are dating, they should go on a date.
Separately, Sonoko wishes a handsome detective would appear to make Shinichi jealous.
File 1119 Spoiler ② – How the Task Force Plans to Trap Kid
Inspector Nakamori worries that only one guard watches the door.
Jirokichi Suzuki explains the scheme: humidity. Heavy mist grounds Kid’s hang-glider and dissolves disguise makeup.
A single security camera faces the vault door; both the real door and the monitor display carry stripes that change color every second, so any tampering will be obvious.
Only One Security Camera
With just one camera trained on the door and throne, any forced entry should be obvious. The color-changing stripes act as a built-in authenticity check.
Moisture Is the Key
Jirokichi outsourced the mist system to Kichida Industries.
CEO Yotaro Kichida and engineering chief Masuo Kase demonstrate: without protective suits, a person is drenched in 60 seconds.
After a final inspection, staff exit the vault.
File 1119 Spoiler ③ – Kid Makes His Move
The lights go out as the staff depart. Conan sees the monitor’s color border quiver—someone opened the door.
While Conan heads to the exhibition room, CEO Kichida’s wife Satsuki and secretary Kyuya Kamiji arrive in the security room. Both received an email reportedly from the CEO: “I will defend the jewel.” (unofficial translation)
File 1119 Spoiler ④ – A Corpse on the Azure Throne
Conan finds Kaito Kid in a hazmat suit—and CEO Kichida, shot dead on the throne. Kid insists the body was already there; no gunpowder odor suggests he’s telling the truth.
File 1119 Spoiler ⑤ – Saguru Hakuba Arrives
Saguru Hakuba: “Seal the vault—now!” (unofficial translation)
Doors slam shut. Hakuba, serving as Jirokichi’s special advisor, reveals himself.
Hakuba originally planned to lift the exhibition room with an Osprey and lower it into a pool to capture Kid. Conan’s entry changes the plan, so riot police surround the room instead.
Kid’s Desperate Bargain
With murder charges looming, Kid pleads for Conan’s help.
Conan agrees, but on his own terms.
File 1119 Spoiler ⑥ – The Detective Duo
When the door opens, Conan Edogawa stands beside someone who looks like Shinichi Kudo. This is Kid posing as Shinichi under his arrangement with Conan, as clarified in File 1120.
Hakuba responds to the apparent detective’s arrival:
Hakuba: “Intriguing… truly intriguing.” (unofficial translation)
Kid, posing as Shinichi: “This is our first meeting, isn’t it, Saguru Hakuba?” (unofficial translation)
File 1119 ends on that electrifying introduction.
Detective Conan 1119 “The Sky” – Review & Theories
The Kid episode we’ve been waiting for is finally here—only this time Kaito Kid walks straight into a murder scene.
Even better, his opponent is none other than his long-time rival Saguru Hakuba, which instantly raises the stakes. Here’s how the chapter landed for us.
File 1119 Review & Theories ① – Saguru Hakuba Makes a Long-Awaited Return
Hakuba hasn’t shown up in the manga since the Detective Kōshien arc, so his re-entry is a major event.
In Magic Kaito he’s Kid’s most persistent foe, famous for airtight counter-measures; the Osprey gambit he planned in this chapter proves he hasn’t lost his edge.
The question is: how far will he push Kid—and what new tricks will Kid need to escape?
Expect a true battle of wits.
File 1119 Review & Theories ② – Hakuba vs. Shinichi: A Detective Showdown
Hakuba knows Shinichi’s reputation, but this is only an apparent meeting with Shinichi: the person in front of him is Kid in disguise. It does not establish a first meeting with the real Shinichi.
With a corpse on the Azure Throne, a deduction contest seems likely. Kid’s Shinichi disguise and Conan’s cooperation complicate the apparent Hakuba-versus-Shinichi matchup.
Which prodigy will crack the locked-room setup first?
Fans of classic whodunits should savor every panel.
File 1119 Review & Theories ③ – Tooru Amuro Sits This Round Out (for Now)
The previous arc ended with Amuro receiving orders to investigate Conan, so I expected that thread to continue here.
File 1119 stays laser-focused on Kid, Hakuba, and the murder inside Bell Tree Tower; Amuro doesn’t appear at all.
At File 1119, I wondered whether the investigation thread might return near the end of this series. That is a prediction, not a confirmed appearance by Amuro or the mysterious elder.
Stay tuned!
