The previous arc revolved around a leaked photo—and ended with a crucial RUM appearance.

File 1154 launches a brand-new mini-arc.

Weekly Shonen Sunday has also announced the 2026 movie title, “Highway no Datenshi” (“Fallen Angel on the Highway”). Fittingly, this chapter spotlights the film’s leads: Chihaya Hagiwara and Jugo Yokomizo.

Detective Conan File 1154 “The Ring & the Hot Springs” – Spoilers

The story opens at a hot-spring ryokan in Hakone. Exhausted from work, Jugo Yokomizo (Kanagawa Prefectural Police) slips away for a solo soak.

Part of the bath is mixed bathing, where a lively group of women is chatting—among them Chihaya Hagiwara (Kanagawa Traffic Division) and her friend Shinobu.

Because Yokomizo secretly has feelings for Chihaya, the “chance reunion” leaves him flustered. Also staying at the inn are Kogoro Mouri, Ran, and Conan—in other words, the whole cast you’d expect when a case is about to break.

Other bathers: a former girls’ table-tennis quartet

Sharing the mixed bath is a four-woman group of former high-school table-tennis teammates who still keep in touch:

  • Former ace: Reiko Shibukawa (Shibukawa Reiko)
  • Former manager: Kurumi Nishie (Nishie Kurumi) — recently married to national-team player Katsuto
  • Former captain: Tamie Ichiki (Ichiki Tamie)
  • Former vice-captain: Sumika Jujo (Jujo Sumika)

Complication: all three of the others once confessed to Katsuto—and were rejected—so the mood is… delicate.

After the bath, a “ring” goes missing

Once they leave the bath, Kurumi realizes her cherished ring is gone. The four split up to search:

  • Kurumi returns to her room
  • Shibukawa checks the table-tennis hall
  • Jujo searches the tub and washing area
  • Ichiki checks the restroom

Chihaya Hagiwara’s memory of senior-year summer

Watching the frantic search, Chihaya and Shinobu recall their own senior-summer memory: at a fireworks festival, Chihaya spent 30 minutes trying to win a “first-prize ring” at a shooting stall.

Then Jinpei Matsuda and Kenji Hagiwara showed up. Matsuda grabbed the toy rifle: “Fine, I’ll win that ring for you—but if I do, you’re my bride!” He misses; Shinobu takes a shot and nails it.

“Then you’re my bride!” she teases, and Chihaya blushes. It’s a tender flashback that deepens the Chihaya–Matsuda backstory.

While they search for the ring, an unexpected crime

As the hunt continues, a drenched Tamie Ichiki knocks on Kurumi’s door right in front of Conan’s group.

They open it to find Kurumi Nishie inside—her throat cut, dead. Evidence shows the perpetrator entered the room wearing slippers. What began as a missing-ring caper now turns into a full-blown murder case.

Detective Conan File 1154 “The Ring & the Hot Springs” – Review & Theories

This is a key kickoff to the 2026 movie tie-in run. File 1154 functions as a prologue, so the focus here is on impressions and setup rather than a full whodunit.

1154 Review & Theory ① –Matsuda Jinpei’s instant classic line

The moment that hits hardest is Matsuda’s half-proposal at the festival shooting booth:

“All right then… I’ll win that ring for you! But if I do, Chihaya—you’re gonna be my bride.”

It’s blunt, funny, and a little bittersweet—quintessential Matsuda. And of course, he misses, which only underscores his endearing rough edges.

1154 Review & Theory ② –Foreshadowing for the 2026 film “Highway no Datenshi”

Weekly Shonen Sunday has announced the 2026 movie title, “Highway no Datenshi” (Fallen Angel on the Highway), with Kenji Hagiwara and Jinpei Matsuda featured in the teaser.

File 1154’s high-school flashback of Chihaya, Matsuda, and Kenji neatly organizes their relationships and emotions—clear pre-movie groundwork.

The ring-shooting episode reads like emotional calibration before the film. Expect more film-adjacent inserts this season and watch how the clues are scattered.

1154 Review & Theory ③ –The case is still in its opening phase—the culprit silhouette is unclear

As an introduction, File 1154 lays out victims, relationships, and the missing ring, but it’s too early to narrow suspects decisively. The real unraveling should begin next chapter.

The hook will be how Jugo Yokomizo and Chihaya’s character beats intersect with the former table-tennis club’s tangled dynamics.

  • Relationship map presented cleanly
  • Ring-centric foreshadowing placed for later payoff
  • Emotional texture for Chihaya, Matsuda, and Kenji tied to the 2026 film

As a curtain-raiser for the movie season, it’s a well-balanced opener.
