Detective Conan Manga Chapter 1146 Spoilers, Theories & Review | Case Closed

Spoilers ahead for Detective Conan File 1146, “This Place is Dangerous.”

File 1146 solves the death of Ayako Futamura, but its larger danger is a present-day encounter between FBI agent Andre Camel and Kanenori Wakita. Conan secretly guides the early deduction, while Wakita begins to suspect that the apparently absent Conan is the real detective behind the performance.

A Remote Deduction from the Doorway

The story begins inside the home of the deceased Ayako Futamura. Three host-club workers are present as suspects: Michiyoshi Takabuki, Ikuto Nishime, and Satoru Shinpo. They assume Futamura died by suicide and prepare to leave, but Conan whispers to Camel and starts a different kind of investigation.

A button-sized speaker is hidden inside Camel’s hood. Conan uses his Voice-Changing Bowtie to speak from outside the entrance while Camel performs the deduction. Conan even gives Camel detailed instructions for switching his eye contact and mouth movements when the person being addressed changes.

The Three Household Traps

The first trick uses a plate placed beneath an air-conditioner vent. When the unit turns on, a spoon and fork fall onto the plate and shatter it. The breakage is mechanically staged.

The second trick explains why the cuckoo clock was ten minutes slow. Plates and glasses were stacked on a chair in front of the clock. When the cuckoo emerged, the stack fell and broke, producing another staged accident.

The third trick uses a plastic bottle filled with water inside a microwave. It bursts after several minutes, sending a knife and cutting board tumbling from above. The falling knife creates the appearance of a weapon thrown through the room.

Takabuki Is Exposed by the Cartridge

The fourth trick involves ammunition heated with dry noodles in a frying pan. It produces a gunshot-like sound and ejects the casing. The later sound is part of the staging, rather than the shot that killed Futamura.

Takabuki has already collected the casing and hidden it in his sock. That evidence identifies him as the killer: he seriously injured Futamura and then shot her, before staging the scene as an accident. An argument over a two-timing affair appears to have prompted the killing.

Wakita Notices the Voice Performance

Kanenori Wakita feels that he has encountered Camel before. He notices that Camel’s mouth movements do not always match the words he is saying, and he also realizes that Conan is missing from the room. Wakita wonders whether the “kid” is the person doing the deduction and goes toward the entrance.

When Wakita opens the door, Conan claims that he was watching ants lined up outside. The quick excuse allows him to avoid being exposed. After Camel finishes the deduction, Wakita dismisses Conan as an ordinary child, but his suspicion has come dangerously close.

The Doorway Exchange Stays Unresolved

After the deduction, Camel opens the front door and nearly collides with Wakita. Camel warns him not to stand in front of a door because it is dangerous. Both men begin to wonder whether they have met before. Two years earlier, Camel approached a mysterious old man during Shuichi Akai’s attempt to capture Gin, disrupting the plan.

The old man was RUM. The doorway exchange echoes that earlier encounter. Camel’s believed-dead status makes renewed contact with RUM dangerous, but what happens next remains unclear.

Why File 1146 Matters

The Case Ends, but the RUM Story Does Not

The household murder is solved, but the Camel and Wakita thread is deliberately left open. The story may return to the two men after a time gap or through a flashback. The Black Organization clue from the earlier files has not yet been fully explained.

Conan Nearly Loses Control of the Disguise

Conan’s remote setup is clever, but Wakita’s attention makes it fragile. If Conan had not improvised the ant explanation, Wakita could have connected the missing boy with the voice coming from outside. File 1146 is therefore a near-discovery as well as a murder solution.

File 1146 ends with three unresolved risks: Camel remains vulnerable because his death was staged, Wakita has come close to discovering Conan’s concealed role in the deduction, and the doorway encounter has not been explained. That is why this chapter’s title feels less like a warning about the door and more like a warning about the entire situation.
