Spoilers for Detective Conan File 1145 “A Dangerous Reunion”

The chapter opens as Kanenori Wakita arrives at the murder-scene apartment. Spotting Conan and “Tatsuya Ando” (FBI agent André Camel in disguise), Wakita—secretly RUM—remarks:

“I feel like we’ve met somewhere before…”

Camel denies it, yet privately wonders the same.

1145 Spoiler ① – Wakita & Haibara Collide…Almost

Because Ai Haibara feels ill, the Detective Boys escort her away from the crime scene.

As they leave, Wakita glances at her face and begins, “Hey, little—” but Conan interrupts, handing him a band-aid for a host who stepped on broken glass. Wakita may have sensed Haibara’s true identity as Shiho Miyano.

1145 Spoiler ② – Detectives Takagi & Megure Arrive

The victim is Ayako Futamura, a hostess at Club Kaen. Cause of death: a gunshot wound to the head.

The pistol lay across the room, attached to a thick rubber band looped around the desk leg—rigged so she could fire it with her foot and stage a murder scene.

Conan describes the earlier crashes, the flying kitchen knife, and why the group entered the apartment. Takagi eyes “Ando” and swears they’ve met before.

1145 Spoiler ③ – Three Host Suspects

Ayako had summoned three hosts:

  1. Michiyoshi Takabuki – outside behind Conan’s group when the shot rang out.
  2. Ikuto Nishime – outside Ayako’s door, shouting to her just before the gunshot.
  3. Satoru Shimpo – arrived as Conan suggested fetching the landlady.

While the setup screams suicide, Wakita’s delivery of two premium sushi sets proves Ayako expected a private meeting—meaning the killer is among the trio.

Camel spots dark red stains on the desk’s edge and theorizes Ayako suffered a severe head injury first, then used the gun to mask it. Wakita notes Camel’s “detective-like” tone and grows suspicious.

1145 Spoiler ④ – Haibara Retreats to a Park

Over at a nearby park, Haibara grills the Detective Boys: “Who else was there?” They mention only the sushi chef and the three suspects.

Relieved yet uneasy, Haibara realizes her “danger sensor” mistook human malice for Black Organization vibes.

1145 Spoiler ⑤ – Conan Examines the Scene

Conan studies a burnt frying pan in the sink, a fallen microwave, an empty PET bottle on the floor, and a toppled cutting board.

Two suspects wear house slippers; Takabuki is in socks, injured from stepping on glass. Despite the body search turning up nothing, Conan feels the case won’t end as a simple suicide.

1145 Spoiler ⑥ – Wakita Drops a Crucial Hint

Wakita inspects the frying pan: dried ramen bricks lie half-softened, burnt on top—someone heated them without adding water. The comment sparks Conan’s deduction.

Forensics then reports one bottle cap missing among the PET bottles. Conan realizes the killer tampered with the timeline, and a key clue has been erased.

File 1146 continues…

Detective Conan File 1145 “A Dangerous Reunion” – Review & Theories

This chapter focuses less on the murder trick and far more on Kanenori Wakita’s (a.k.a. RUM) movements. Every panel makes you sweat: will Wakita realize FBI agent André Camel is still alive?

1145 Insight ① – Camel Might Recognize Wakita as RUM

The moment Camel and Wakita lock eyes, Camel thinks, “I swear I’ve met this guy before.

” He’s recalling the ambush two years ago when an elderly man tried to stop Shuichi Akai from capturing Gin—that “old man” was RUM. If Camel connects the dots, he could be the first ally to identify Wakita as RUM.

1145 Insight ② – Haibara Narrowly Avoids Exposure

Had Wakita’s left-eye photographic memory still been active, he might have pegged Ai Haibara as Shiho Miyano on sight.

Conan distracts him just in time, but the danger isn’t over. One more direct look and Haibara’s cover could shatter—putting the entire team in the Organization’s crosshairs.

Old-Version RUM Would Have Been Fatal

Back when RUM’s left eye functioned, his perfect recall made him nearly unstoppable. The current handicap likely saved Haibara today.

1145 Insight ③ – Conan Is on Maximum Alert Around Wakita

Conan takes three key precautions:

  • Keeps Camel’s true identity hidden.
  • Shields Haibara whenever Wakita glances her way.
  • Avoids mentioning the name “Shinichi Kudo.”

It’s obvious Conan considers Wakita extremely dangerous—possibly even suspects he’s RUM. How this tension plays out in future chapters will be crucial.
