File 1126 kicked off a brand-new arc, bringing heavy hitters Toru Amuro and Masumi Sera back into the spotlight.
The chapter ended on a cliff-hanger: both Conan and Azusa were abducted. What comes next?
Below is preview of File 1127, based on the teaser published in Weekly Shōnen Sunday issue 30 (19 June 2024).
Detective Conan 1127 “The Time is Midnight” – Spoilers
The chapter opens with Azusa opening the refrigerator.
Inside is a severed head, and a single severed finger lies on the floor.
Azusa immediately recalls Sera’s earlier warning about a trophy-collecting serial killer.
Conan is still unconscious—the situation looks grim.
File 1127 Spoiler ① – A Distress Call on the Detective Badge
Conan’s detective badge suddenly crackles to life; Amuro and Sera are on the line. Azusa briefs them on the kidnapping.
Her only belongings are a wallet, handkerchief, a box of matches, and wireless earbuds—her phone was confiscated.
Two masked men enter, smash the badge, and sneer:
“Relax… you’re only useful until midnight. Four more hours, then we’re done with you.”
Amuro and Sera hear every word.
One kidnapper pockets Azusa’s phone.
File 1127 Spoiler ② – Profiling the Three Masked Customers
Amuro and Sera deduce the abductors were among the three masked men in Café Poirot:
Kiyoshi Hanke – complained the beef stew tasted exactly like his “usual café,” then left after Amuro handed him the recipe.
Reita Kanamaru – a likely regular; he knew where Amuro keeps the herb-salt and kept sneezing.
Keisuke Omura – working on a “Shūdan-kan Bunko” game walkthrough on his laptop; whispered “Don’t tell anyone we spoke.”
Reviewing phone snapshots, Amuro and Sera notice something that clicks.
File 1127 Spoiler ③ – Conan Wakes Up
Azusa fears they’ll be killed—but Conan quietly says,
Conan「We’ll be fine.」
He’s been awake since the fridge door opened.
Conan quietly asks Azusa for the matchbox, planning to pick the padlock.
He also notes the smartphone sticking out of their captor’s back pocket and thinks, I just need to wait… for Amuro and Sera’s signal to fight back.
To be continued in File 1128…
Detective Conan 1127 “The Time is Midnight” – Review & Theories
The deduction phase has wrapped, and the arc feels poised for a full-blown rescue in the next chapter—bittersweet, because it means we’re already heading into the resolution.
Below are quick-fire reactions and speculation.
File 1127 Review & Theories ① – Kanamaru Is Probably Poirot’s Owner
Three masked patrons drew suspicion.
One, who kept refilling his coffee, said,
“There’s extra herb salt in the cabinet under the counter.”
Only a Poirot insider would know Amuro’s spice stash.
Ran and Sonoko also remarked they thought they’d met this man before.
Add in the meta Easter egg—an anime-original episode once showed Poirot’s owner, voiced by Jun’ichi Kanemaru—and it’s almost certain Reita Kanamaru is the café’s elusive boss.
File 1127 Review & Theories ② – Bluetooth Earbuds Are the Escape Key
Conan tells Azusa
Conan「waiting for the signal to strike back,」
staring at the kidnapper’s phone.
That “signal” is obviously a call from Amuro or Sera.
Azusa still has her wireless earbuds. If the buds auto-pair to the kidnapper’s phone, Conan can answer the incoming call silently.
Two plausible breakout paths:
Earbuds With Find-My-GPS
If the buds have a tracking chip (think AirPods), Amuro can ping their location and storm the hideout.
If Amuro Has Already Identified the Culprit
Conan’s remark about “waiting for the signal” suggests he expects Toru Amuro to make the next move.
Because Amuro and Sera have already narrowed the suspects down to one of the three masked customers at Café Poirot, it’s entirely possible Amuro is heading straight to that person—either to apprehend him or force a face-to-face.
The kidnapper used the same vehicle to grab Conan and Azusa, so he’s likely still nearby. One plausible scenario: the moment Amuro confronts the culprit, he’ll place a call, giving Conan the cue to coordinate their escape in real time.
A quick rendez-vous could turn the tide and let everyone get out safely.
File 1127 Review & Theories ③ – Who Actually Abducted Conan & Azusa?
The burning question is which masked guest abducted Conan and Azusa.
As noted earlier, the coffee-addicted Reita Kanamaru is almost certainly Café Poirot’s elusive owner, ruling him out as the culprit. That leaves two prime suspects:
Clue #1 – What Was Reflected in the Photo?
While scrutinizing a snapshot, Amuro and Sera spot something crucial: the reflection of Keisuke Omura’s laptop screen.
The glass clearly shows gameplay footage for Splatterter 3—even though only Splatterter 2 has been released.
Omura begged Azusa to “keep quiet,” suggesting he’s leaking unreleased game data.
Silencing Azusa before she talks would be a strong motive for kidnapping.
Clue #2 – Mask, Sneezes & a Cat Allergy
The abductor sneezed repeatedly while forcing Azusa into the car, indicating a probable cat allergy—Azusa owns Captain the cat.
Suspect Kiyoshi Hanke merely sniffled inside the café and sneezed only after stepping outside, hinting at a cold.
By contrast, Omura was already sneezing in front of Azusa, matching the allergy profile.
This strongly implies Omura rode in the getaway car and may have led the abduction.
