Yes. Tooru Amuro identifies Conan Edogawa as Shinichi Kudo in Volume 107, File 3: overall File 1136, A Once-in-a-Lifetime Encounter. His memory of meeting Shinichi seven years earlier finally connects the extraordinary child he has been watching with a name. That discovery does not establish that he understands APTX 4869, knows Haibara’s identity, or has reported Conan’s secret to anyone.
The reveal rewards a long investigation, but its decisive clue is personal. Amuro has access to the Black Organization and public security intelligence; neither supplies the answer that his own past makes possible.
Why Volume 107 Is the Confirmed Reveal
Files 1134–1136 form the three-chapter case ending in A Once-in-a-Lifetime Encounter. The first two chapters are A Chance Meeting and Cutting the Gordian Knot. The case recalls an encounter between Furuya’s police-academy group and the young Shinichi and Ran seven years earlier.
Amuro has already noticed the resemblance: Conan’s reasoning, his determination to intervene in cases, and his closeness to Ran and the Kudo family all invite comparison with Shinichi. Yet a familiar face and an exceptional mind leave room for other explanations.
The memory supplies the missing connection. Conan knows an incident involving the elementary-school-aged Shinichi from seven years ago, despite now appearing to be a first grader. Amuro connects the boy from that encounter with Conan and explicitly concludes that he is Shinichi Kudo. This is more than an observer deciding that Conan is unusually clever.
The years of suspicion matter because they give the memory something to explain. Clues planted since Amuro’s arrival in Volume 75 finally come together in Volume 107. Returning an investigation of this scale to one seemingly ordinary encounter makes the payoff particularly satisfying.
As of July 22, 2026, the reveal had not been adapted into the anime. The films and the Kudo residence tea party offer relevant context, but neither supplies an earlier explicit identification.
From Kogoro’s Apprentice to Conan’s Investigator
Amuro’s attention initially centers on Kogoro Mouri. It then shifts toward the boy behind the famous detective, before expanding to Conan’s involvement with the FBI. These are successive discoveries about Conan’s abilities and influence; they do not establish that Amuro knew his original identity all along.
Volume 75: Approaching Kogoro
Amuro debuts in Wedding Eve (Part 1) and Wedding Eve (Part 2), international episodes 719–720 (Japanese episodes 667–668). After presenting himself as a private detective, he becomes Kogoro’s apprentice and starts working at Café Poirot beneath the Mouri Detective Agency.
His real name is Rei Furuya, a Public Security Bureau officer infiltrating the Black Organization as Bourbon. That gives an otherwise friendly arrival at the café a more troubling background. At this stage, however, the celebrated Kogoro is his main approach; the story does not show him identifying Conan as Shinichi.
Volume 78: The Watch Behind Sleeping Kogoro
In Conan in a Locked Room and Bourbon Figures It Out, international episodes 757–758 (Japanese episodes 705–706), Amuro catches Conan preparing to use his Stun-Gun Wristwatch on Kogoro. Conan improvises an explanation, but the boy’s position behind the detective has become suspicious.
Conan also helps steer the deductions. When Amuro later tells Vermouth that his interest in Sleeping Kogoro has grown, the context points toward the child contributing to those performances. He has reason to question who is doing the thinking, even though the scene does not establish that he has worked out the entire method.
Volumes 80–81: A Child Who Can Disrupt an Operation
Jodie’s Memories and the Cherry Blossom Viewing Trap (1 Hour Special), international episodes 786–787 (Japanese episode 734), places Conan amid Amuro and Vermouth’s investigation of the FBI and Akai’s apparent death. Conan can anticipate their moves and work with the agents they are probing.
Amuro’s subsequent assessment of Conan recognizes a formidable opponent. He understands how dangerous the boy’s intelligence could be to an operation without yet connecting that intelligence to Shinichi. Read after File 1136, the scene gains weight precisely because his judgment of Conan’s ability was already so accurate.
Volumes 84–85: The Scarlet Deception
The Scarlet storyline spans international episodes 832–836 (Japanese episodes 779–783). Amuro questions Akai’s death at Raiha Pass and suspects that Subaru Okiya is Akai. The counter-operation temporarily dispels that identification for him; the later Betrayal storyline changes his understanding. Scarlet should not be treated as his complete confirmation of Okiya’s identity.
What does become apparent is Conan’s involvement in the FBI’s deception. A supposed first grader is helping adults conceal Akai’s survival and outmaneuver an Organization operative. Meanwhile, Conan recognizes Amuro’s public security connection.
Both have penetrated part of the other’s cover. Amuro still lacks the specific connection to Shinichi, however. Seeing the scale of Conan’s role is another step toward the answer, not the answer itself.
Volumes 86–87: Kuroda Knows Conan’s Reputation
In The Darkness of the Prefectural Police (Parts 1–3), international episodes 865–867 (Japanese episodes 810–812), Hyoue Kuroda describes Conan as the intelligence behind Sleeping Kogoro, citing his reputation at the National Police Agency.
Conan’s deductions have attracted attention beyond the people he directly works with. That is unsettling in itself: routine case-solving has made him visible to senior police figures. The scene does not identify Amuro as Kuroda’s informant. Kuroda’s ability to direct Furuya and the route by which he learned about Conan are different questions.
Two Investigations Lead to One Person
Rum orders Bourbon to investigate Shinichi. A mysterious elderly man separately orders Amuro to investigate Conan. The subjects of those inquiries turn out to be the same person, but neither requester is shown handing Amuro that conclusion.
Volume 95: Rum’s Order and the Tea Party
After Shinichi appears publicly during the school trip, news that he is alive draws the Organization’s attention. In The Unsolved Cocktail Case (Parts One–Three), international episodes 1009–1011 (Japanese episodes 952–954), Rum instructs Bourbon to investigate him.
Amuro probes Ran’s and the Kudo family’s surroundings, enters the Kudo Residence, and encounters Akai. The resulting tea party brings Amuro together with Akai, Yusaku, and Yukiko. Its full conversation remains unrevealed through File 1166.
Cooperation between public security and the FBI, an arrangement against the Organization, or the handling of Akai’s survival are possible subjects. None is evidence that Yusaku disclosed Conan’s identity. Amuro’s surprised conclusion in Volume 107 would also be difficult to explain if he had already received that answer over tea.
Volume 105, File 1115: The Order to Investigate Conan
In The Butler and the Detective, a cane-carrying elderly man tells Amuro to investigate Conan thoroughly. Amuro subsequently gathers information around the Detective Boys, including placing a listening device on Mitsuhiko.
The elderly man’s identity, affiliation, and purpose remain unknown in the chapters covered here. He is distinct from the elderly figure with a respirator. His ability to issue an instruction does not establish that he is a public security superior or connected to Rum or Karasuma.
The two inquiries put Amuro in a difficult position even before he joins them. Rum wants information about Shinichi; another powerful-looking figure wants information about Conan. Knowing they are one person makes deciding what to report more consequential.
Volume 107: Recognition Followed by Silence
Files 1–3 of Volume 107 return Amuro to the encounter from his police-academy days. The surveillance, deductions, and FBI connections explain why Conan deserves attention; the remembered Shinichi explains who Conan is.
When Amuro and Conan meet again in the case spanning Volume 107, Files 8–10, Amuro does not tell him what he has discovered. His outward behavior stays familiar, and Conan is not clearly shown realizing that his identity has been exposed.
That quiet continuation of daily life is more tense than an immediate confrontation. One participant knows more than he admits, while the other may still believe the secret is safe. It does not reveal all of Amuro’s intentions, but it changes how their ordinary conversations can be read.
What Amuro Knows—and What Remains Unclear
His confirmed discovery is that Conan and Shinichi are the same person. The cause of the transformation, other transformed people, and any onward report require evidence of their own.
APTX 4869 and the Transformation
The scenes covered here do not show Amuro learning that Gin administered APTX 4869, that Shinichi survived through shrinking, or that an antidote can temporarily restore his original body. They also do not establish his knowledge of Haibara’s antidote research, other people affected by shrinking, or the full circle of people sharing the secret with Professor Agasa and the Kudos.
Even Amuro’s understanding of Conan’s present physical age is not explained. An undercover position in the Organization does not give him access to every research secret. He can identify the person without yet understanding how that person acquired a child’s body.
Haibara’s Identity Is a Separate Question
Amuro knew Elena Miyano as a child and participated in the Mystery Train operation against Sherry. Those are substantial connections to the Miyano family. They do not establish that he knows Ai Haibara is Shiho Miyano.
Recognizing one transformed person may give him a new question to pursue, but it does not automatically identify another. His knowledge of Haibara must be judged from evidence concerning her, rather than assumed from the Conan revelation.
No Disclosure Is Shown Through File 1166
Through manga File 1166, Amuro is not shown reporting Conan’s identity to Rum, Kuroda, the elderly man, or another third party. This does not prove that every possible private exchange can be ruled out; it describes what the covered chapters reveal.
The recipient would matter. Rum is the Organization’s second-in-command, and a report to him could endanger Conan. A report on the public security side might lead to protection or investigative use. The elderly man’s affiliation remains unknown. A disclosure to one person cannot be presumed to reach all three.
Cooperation Does Not Remove Every Competing Duty
Conan knows that the detective and Café Poirot employee called Tooru Amuro is also Rei Furuya and Bourbon. After Volume 107, Amuro knows the person behind Conan’s appearance too. Their mutual knowledge is substantial, but it is still incomplete.
The exchange about lying after Scarlet captures that relationship. Conan calls Amuro a liar; Amuro responds, in effect, that Conan is hardly in a position to complain. Both recognize the other’s ability to conceal information and help conduct an elaborate operation.
At that earlier point, the exchange concerns hidden roles and the Akai deception. It does not establish an early discovery that Conan is Shinichi. The later reveal adds resonance without changing what Amuro was shown knowing then.
Furuya’s work to protect Japan often aligns with Conan’s opposition to the Organization. Yet Bourbon must also maintain his infiltration and handle Rum’s investigation order, while Amuro continues gathering information close to Conan.
Learning the secret does not establish unconditional agreement on every decision. Protection and investigation coexist in the same person. His silence could be protective, strategic, or shaped by obligations not yet fully revealed; the identity discovery alone cannot settle his future choices.
What the Films Add to the Relationship
The films provide their own examples of trust and age-related clues. They should be considered separately from the explicit manga identification in File 1136.
The Bride of Halloween
In The Bride of Halloween, Conan refers to a childhood encounter involving Kenji Hagiwara that is difficult to reconcile with his apparent age. That memory is distinct from the main Plamya incident Furuya recounts, which occurred three years earlier.
The age discrepancy could invite further questions. The film does not show Amuro expressly concluding that Conan is Shinichi, however. After Volume 107, the memory can be read as thematic preparation for a deduction built on the past; that is an interpretation of the parallel, not a separate confirmed reveal.
Black Iron Submarine
In Black Iron Submarine, Amuro passes Conan information about Pinga and developments around Pacific Buoy. He treats Conan as someone capable of acting on sensitive intelligence about the Organization.
That is remarkable trust to place in an apparent first grader. It supports their working relationship, but does not establish which parts of Conan’s history Amuro knows. An exchange of operational information and an explicit identification as Shinichi remain different kinds of evidence.
The Reveal Leaves a New Secret Between Them
Amuro’s discovery is clear: Volume 107, File 3—overall File 1136—identifies Conan as Shinichi. The long trail through Kogoro, the FBI, Rum’s order, and the elderly man’s investigation is finally resolved by his memory of a boy he met seven years earlier.
What follows is less settled. His knowledge of the drug and Haibara remains unconfirmed, and no disclosure to a third party is shown through File 1166. Conan may not yet realize how much Amuro has learned.
They can still talk normally at Café Poirot. Beneath that familiarity, however, public security duties, an Organization cover, and Shinichi’s survival now overlap in a new way. The deduction pays off an old mystery while making their quietest scenes more charged.
